Does anyone have experience with handlebar raisers on the 2013 1200 GS? i am considering the Rox speed FX. I want to make certain that the existing clutch and brake cables will work with out modifications. Any other suggestions are welcome

Welcome to the forum! Not sure someone has don this yet. I'll move this to the WetHead section of the forum. We're building a great DIY section there.

I've the Wunderlich up-and-back risers. http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorcycle/R1200GSLC/41970111.html

No cable changes needed, but my brake line is about as taut as I'd want it to be when the handlebars are at full left lock.

The Rox work fine. Relocate the wires on the throttle side behind the fork tube and zip tie them to the side.

How high can I go without changing / altering my cables ? On my 1150 GS I could go up 1.5 inches without a change.

Varies slightly from bike to bike. As noted above I needed no changes with the risers I added to my bike. Others found their brake line too tight adding the exact same riser. The installation instructions even mentioned the possibility of needing to pull the tank and relocate the brake lines to get enough slack.

The ballpark range will be 35-40 mm.

Twisty,

The ROX Risers are great, if you search the MOA facebook page, I posted a review with full pics of installation. If you cant find it, look up my facebook page GS Worldwide(English speaking).

RT Risers

Has anyone installed the Illium Works bar risers on the RT wethead? Anyone in the Chicago area? I'd love to feel the difference before I buy them.

Thanks,

I put the risers on my '14 RT. They DO make a difference. Be sure to rent the extraction tool for taking the old handles off otherwise it could become quite frustrating.

I second making sure to use the extractor tool from Ilium. It makes swapping the bolts a lot easier.

Just for your comparison purposes Touratech offers 15mm, 25mm and 40mm risers. I happen to choose and install the other day the 25mm [1"]. Easy install, made more difference than I thought it would and no adjustment of cables.

Thanks for the install pics Marchyman, just ordered the Wunderlich risers to install at JVB's tech day (btw- Wunderlich items are discounted 15% to MOA members through May 31, 2015.

Although I ride a 2013 R1200GSW, I do have the Ilium handlebar risers installed. They included an extension for the front brake line. Very well constructed, and helped me ride in a more upright position which helped my back a ton.
