VANOS system on by BMW.

Samuel, I don't think there are any BMW bikes with variable valve timing.... yet. Are you sure you are in the right place?
 
I had the Vanos system (specifically the cam position sensor) on my 98 328i fail. The car was very clear in letting me know that it had failed and that I was in a limp home mode.
