Tires for RT

storms

Back one looks great all mounted up. I'll take some pics when I get done with the front and post. (if I can figure out how)

On the storms I like the fact that you have a tread design across the center of the tire so you can make a determination of wear. The Z6's I just took off were great performers the only con was that you have to guess on wear or wait till the belts show thru ( I hate finding that out half way through a road trip ). I also like the fact that the storms were designed specificly with a sport touring application in mind. Performance and miles will be the final judge

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like the Metz 880's are the way to go, but my BMW mechanic told me they don't make them for a 2000 RT and it's 18" rear wheel? Has my mechanic got bad info here?

I have an R12Rt, and the rear tire calls for a 180/55, 17". My tire guy says the Metzler 880 comes in a 170/60/17". I wonder what the repercusions of putting the ME 880 on the R12RT? I ran a set of Z6s, and then the Avon Azaro, and only got 6000 miles on the rear of each. I'd like to go a few more miles than that. Then again, maybe I should try the Avon Storm? What is supprising is how fast the last miles go out of a tire. The Z6s looked fair on day last fall, and I sure thought they'd be good for a 200 mile day ride, but coming in I had cords showing. :hungover
