My TFT has stopped displaying the local speed limit. Before you ask, the app on the phone is up to date, the bike software, recently serviced in July, is also up to date, and the display option is checked to display local speed limits. More maddening (to me, at least) is that all the other features of the app, ride history, local temp, etc., work fine. Phone and Sena headset pair easily and reliably. What the heck!!! Both authorized dealers in the Chicago area didn't have a solution, but did recommend bringing it in for more in depth investigation.

Thoughts? Ideas? Recommendations?

Thanks very much,
Jim, Chicago

My '21 R1250RT does that on some roads from time to time. I'd think it unusual if it's happening on roads that previously posted speed limits. Good luck please let folks know here if there is a resolution.

The speed limit is part of the map data. Not all maps do have that included, like some of the free (open) maps on the Internet.

However, if the speed limit was reported on the very same map you are using now it would point to a setup change in your navigator.

The OP is talking about the Speed Limit display on his TFT, not his Navigator.
The speed limit will display in the white box if you have that option selected.

OK, all fixed, as of about 10 days ago. I did two things: turned off "battery saver" on my android (not sure why), and, more relevant, updated the previously downloaded maps, which happen to be IL, WI, IN. Unfortunately, neither of the two Chicago BMW dealers were able to offer any suggestions that they felt good about. I AM NOT criticizing them. I think it's more a matter of not having encountered this exact issue. A few rides through IL and IN showed the speed limit function working accurately, so all is well. BTW, a call to the BMW customer line was a dead-end, having been told that the dealer is the only source for a cure. Hope this helps!

This is almost always BMW Customer Service protocol. If you have a technical failure talk to a dealer - period. The best next step is to ask the dealer to put you in contact with the regional technical rep. Dealer to regional tech rep to the mother ship is the way issues get resolved.
