Staying in touch: iPod Touch vs ??

Just my vote......

iPhone is the greatest device I have ever used. Absolutely love it. Phone, internet, e-mail, iPod and all the fantastic apps. YMMV. :D

iTouch and etc.

I use the iTouch mainly for tunes and quick checks of email, facebook, etc. The advantage of a SSD is no moving parts. My old iPod would skip and lock-up from the vibration of my R1150RTP. I also use a dedicated GPS for navigation, weather (Garmin 478 has XM radio/weather abilities). If I need something bigger for storing pictures from the camera or access to the Internet where there is no WiFi, then I carry my SOny UX390 SSD UMPC. Everything I have pretty much links into my Nolan N103 via bluetooth or multimedia cable. It is somewhat of a trick to find one device to do everything and do it well without being too big. For typical riding locally, my iTouch and Garmin 478 pretty much take care of my needs. FWIW. :thumb

I have an iTouch. I use it for tunes, to check/send email at rest stops, McD's, where ever I find a WiFi signal. Heck, I even surf the web with it.
Just my 2 cents worth.

+1 on the netbook.

I don't know what an Iphone costs these days but I just got a very nifty HP netbook for $359.

In addition to all your requirements you can also run mapping software too.
