Looks like they are bringing out a 500cc Scrambler-

It's being touted as "The Enfield Killer".

And the TransAlp seems to be on it's way-

From MCN- https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/honda/xl750-transalp/2023/

Should be interesting.

Folks keep looking for smaller lighter bikes… these look fun!

I had actually read the news earlier today and thought cool!
There was another story about the CL77 , 305 Scrambler, I actually got to ride a few times but with open snuffer-nots :brow still a blast at 16 until I got a ticket :lol

Most I saw had the muffler removed fairly quickly

These were cooler, had a blue one for a very short time, no blinkers or mombo mid seventies taillight

I like the new modern take, street fighter meets scrambler

I had an SL 350 back in the day. Fun and simple although maybe the beginning of a motorcycle getting too heavy for a “dirt” bike.
One of a number of bikes I wish I still had.

Even James Bond has switched to a scrambler, albeit one from Triumph rather than BMW.

Interestingly back in the day... Steve McQueen, in the movie The Great Escape, chose to ride a Triumph (sort of made up to look like a BMW [didn't really fool anyone]). The famous scene where a jump was attempted across some barbed wired fences to gain freedom in Switzerland was something most folks can recall.

A former Isle of Mann (and other venues) racer, Guy Martin, recreated that jump using one of the Triumph Scramblers. Interesting...

At the beginning of "On Any Sunday", Bruce Brown states that the McQueen jump scene was what got him interested in motorcycles.

Man I'd buy something like an SL 350 in a heartbeat! What's the closest thing to one now? I guess a DR650 is about the same size and weight, with actually a little more power. If Kawasaki would make one around their Ninja 400 and do what Honda did, keep it light and widen the transmission ratios.......

I had one of these. I rode it from Biloxy, MS to Des Moines, IA in 1967.

Another 500 UJM

I upgraded my 2018 CB500X to a Rally Raid Level 2, with a few extra bits and pieces.

Thanks, I appreciate the like. After I did the work on that CB, I submitted an article to the ON. The headline was something like "The bike I wish BMW would build". Needless to say and understandably, the article wasn't published... but that's ok.
