ISAMEMON

Grammarian no, Rider yes
so I got a highly recomended aftermarket clutch disc, always ran BMW before
and for fun I put a micrometer to it and it measures different depending on where I go up to .23 mm
away from rivits
sure that does not sound like much
and I have never put a micrometer to one before, ( well other than old ones to see how shot they were) just did for fun on this one before installing ( bored and wanted to compare a aftermarket new to the old, wich was down to the rivits)

like I said I never did before to other new ones, just slapped them in and went

so ..the question is,,,, is this a problem....is this normal...anyone have a new ebc or bmw disc they want to check against theirs for fun

did not want to put a clutch in tonight anyway

so Ill wait to hear back

thanks

Probably not a problem at all. That disk is a sandwich of two friction surfaces and the center metal part. The parts are riveted but not firmly bonded together.

So when you measure one part it may be squeezed tighter together than some other part. If you could measure it with the pressure of the pressure plate and clutch cover applied to that sandwich I bet it would measure flatter.

checked a friends tonight who had a brand new bmw disc, it was similar although the BMW disc was about .2mm wider
