RT color question

Has anyone seen or have a picture of a 1980 R100RT in the red and sliver paint scheme of a R100T? The top of the tank is red and the sides are silver, the fairing is the same dark red as the top of the tank. Also it has dual plug heads, is this a plus or minus when I try to buy it?

I do not think the RT came in that color combo, so it is either a repaint or a standard /7 with a fairing added. Check the VIN and that will tell you which model it is.
dual plugging is a good thing generally. Check if bottom plug is the smaller one(better) and what ignition is on the bike.

I remember the 2 tone RS's and the 2 tone silver and grey RT's but not in red.

The '80 RT's were same color as '79s as far as the two-tone versions went, i.e. brown and tan. Most, I imagine, were red smoke, however. As always, you can input the VIN at http://www.realoem.com to determine what model the bike originally was.

See the first picture and the 5th to the last. I don't know if this stock; I know that Glenn modified this one. The vents are fiberglassed closed and note the matching Wixom panniers. Still, if you could find a R100T and just get the fairing to match ... I tell you later were to find the T.

Yes ... dual plugging if done correctly is a plus. That would be the best MPG RT that you will ever find.

Wait .. there's more!
Andy Schwietzer's book "Boxer Volume I on page 135 under BMW colours 1980 R100RT lists dunkelrotmetallic mit silbernen Verkleidungsunterteilen und Seitendeckeln, um, ah, Google translate = dark red metallic with silver trim bases and side covers. Also, http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/schemepages/schemer100rt.htm doesn't have a picture but Red Metallic/Hell Silver is 2nd in the list. So, prolly ...

The only reason that I am so interested is that this is one of my most favorite color schemes.
