Rotating the handlebars

I have had this R1150 Rockster for 5 years. I have ridden it a lot (for me anyway) and I have been off the bike for a few weeks. Yesterday, I rode some 400 miles and my right arm was really bugging me as in quite sore. I thought that maybe if I rotated the bars forward (so my wrist isn't as bent) that might help. That project took longer to find the tools. I have not been out on the bike yet, but wanted folks thoughts on this.

But, am I chasing the wrong issue?

I've always tried to orient my bars so that there's a flat plane down my forearms across the back of the hand and it's a straight shot when my fingers are on the levers on either side. I would think that's the best ergonomically.

Same here. :thumb

Can you rotate the lever perches? Would that improve the arm positioning?

I'm not sure. I think on one of my bikes, the perches are staked somehow to the bars. I didn't look that closely, because it was hot and I was tired. I did take it for a little spin today (it was hotter) and it seemed OK, after I adjusted the mirrors. Ride to the office tomorrow. I don't understand why it was bothering me all the sudden.
