R1300GS, what do owner's think about how their bikes fit them and how happy are you?

So after a long time vowing never to buy anything newer than a 95 airhead, I am seriously looking at the R1300GS bike. Yeah it is new and modern, far cry from what I am used to. I have ridden one and was very impressed but a short test ride doesn't tell the story.

I am kind of surprised to see used ones show up for sale with very low mileage and only within the first couple of years out. So, it leads me to question why someone would buy then sell or trade in so soon.
You guys that have these bikes, what do you think about them overall? Have you run into any dark issues BMW is not cottoning to? Thanks, St.

I am looking too, but learned long ago not to be the first kid on the block with any new vehicles....
Letting others be the beta testers = priceless ..YMMV

I’m 6’1”…I bought a fully loaded 1300 in Triple Black with the forged wheels and the tall heated seat. The seat was brutal..I ordered a Russell Day-Long seat, put Touratech handlebar risers on it and a MRA X-Creen on the windshield. Then I put a pair of Denali D6’s on Touratech crash bars, Touratech headlight protector, chinese rad protectors and a Denali tail light with a EZ HEX CAN accessory manager. A full set of SW-Motech Trax Ion cases and Dunlop Roadsmart 4’s..It is fast, comfortable, gets decent gas mileage and is reliable (so far..)
The BMW expanding cases had so many issues that I cancelled my order for them.
After my FJR1300 I find it a lot more nimble..

A close to this thread, I have decided that I would rather stick to airheads to own and ride. My new to me bike is a 79 R100RT, that will be converted to a naked bike this winter.

The new bikes are great but I would rather spend the money on traveling with my wife than on a new bike. Thanks all who answered this thread. St.

Too late, but figured I'd respond anyway. I like my R1300GS. It has an open starter relay recall, but I'll deal with that sometime this winter. Other than that and "variogate" the bike has been fantastic.
