R12GS taillight assy question

I'm trying to install my Skene P3 modulating LED taillights on either side of the license. I need to Posi-tap into three of the wires in the bundle shown in the pic. It would be a lot easier if I could remove a portion of the cover protecting the wires. And that would be a lot easier if I could figure out how to release the plug on the connector at the top of the photo. Trying not to slit the insulation on any wires is difficult with bad nearvision, poor lighting and cramped quarters.

What's the trick to unplugging that connection?

TIA, Pete

On the back side of the plug you will see a tab - push on the tab and the connector will come off

Most of the connectors are the same - here is an example of how I remove mine
