R1200RT to F800GT

Hello Group,

My RT is getting a bit big(tall and heavy) for my liking. In all fairness, I'll probably run it for a couple of more years then look to move to an F800GT. I like the less weight and lower seat height. What year did the F800GT get the adaptive cruise control? Anything else that I should know about making a change like this?

As far as I know it never had it.
Did you mean regular electronic cruise?

The F800GT never had adaptive cruise control. The last year imported to the US was 2016, and I believe you could get regular cruise control that year...not sure how many were produced with that option.

I currently have 2 of these bikes, one here in the US and another stored in Heidelberg, Germany for extended Europe trips each year. IMO, they are a very underrated bike and the BELT is freaking awesome!

Unfortunately no F800GT (nor ST, GS, R, etc.) was ever offered with factory cruise control. IMHO, that was a big miss for BMW, mostly because it would have been pretty easy to do with the later model GT's with throttle by wire.

I have the older McCruise on my F800GS and I love it. It's been very robust even though it is a long journey to get it installed.

The F900XR is probably the closest you can get to the F800GT for a sport touring bike that isn't 9000lbs....

Again - I don't see why BMW hasn't decided to go with a ~800cc middleweight bike with electronic cruise, decent-sized bags, and shaft drive. You'd think there'd be a huge market for many people looking to downsize from the 1200/1250RT's to something lighter... but no one asked me
