R1200RT Oil check mark

Define over-fill. If an extra quart or three were added I'd let some out. If the level is slightly above the sight glass (you can see the top of the oil when bike is leaned a bit to the side opposite the sight glass) then you ignore it and ride on.

I didn't try leaning it to the right. Greater chance of dropping it and doing more damage than an overfill, but I...I mean my friend...just underestimated the time delay between adding oil and having the level change in the sight-glass. Was probably only above the top by a few mm. Thanks.

I miss my old Triumph Trophy...it had a dipstick!

I have to admit - on my RT, with Wunderlich crash bars, it's tough to get a flashlight aimed at the bubble and actually see the oil level. The recent purchase of a multi-LED lightbar type flashlight made that much easier.

I don't own any eyedroppers or syringes. The turkey injector works like a charm, though :dance.
I carry a 1 pint plastic squeeze bottle of oil in a saddlebag. It has a flip-up spout, so adding oil without a funnel is easy and tidy. Useless for a complete oil change, but great for topping off while on the road.

Yeah, I know. But what I think some of us, and by some of us I mean M E is saying is, there is no reason on earth to "top off" while on the road.

Unless it's burning or losing like crazy, and then it would be better to fix the problem.

+1

The max to min on the sight glass is aprox 16 oz. I doubt that most people will lose that much oil bettween 6000 miles changes
