Congrats, and welcome the the oilhead community, it's a fantastic bike!My new 98 R1100RT
Well, new to me.![]()
Looks like a beautiful bike, love that paint scheme, congrats!Well this followed me home today……I had an R1150GS for a couple of years and liked it a lot. Sold it a couple of years ago and missed it….so finally I picked up a clean 2 owner machine with 40,000 miles. She seems to run out nice but was making a little clack at start up. Di a new can chain tensioner tonight and no more noise. Looking forward to putting some miles on her this fall.View attachment 98975
Thanks! Pic is from Ashfield MA, just beyond the intersection of Rts 116 and 112. If you know these roads, you know why I so often find myself in this neighborhood.Very nice. Where was that taken? It looks like the western part of the state.

Both great bikes, love the period-correct RS vibes and man do I want an oilhead GS!
I'm lucky, from my house in West Newton [basically the confluence of rts 90/95] I can hop on backroads almost immediately that provide excellent riding [as long as it's not rush hour]. Everything from 95-495 is pretty densely populated but even roads like 62 and 117 offer a lot of leafy twisties. From 495-Worcester County is even better, and then, yes, then it gets amazing [at least North of 90, I still haven't found the best roads South, at least prior to Western MA].Everything West of Springfield that isn't a big town is pretty darn glorious.
Once out west past Worcester, the riding possibilities sure do improve.
