I have a couple of these handy devices, a Fluke 61 and my "pistol-grip" style NCTG from ThermoWorks which decided to quit. I went through the usual reset attempts and it looks like it was over for this unit. I don't remember how old this unit was but it was older than TW does repairs- from the Technical service department at ThermoWorks.
All that said, I wanted to post up how great TW's customer service department was. They were very attentive and easy to deal with all through an e-mail and later a phone call.
As a result I have a new "NCTG on the way-
I didn't realize how many used these devices in the cooking/grilling industry and many of their products have endorsements from those industries.
Nice to see and communicate with a company geared to getting the customer back up and going.
