Of course, forgot to label the fuel pressure regulator lines!

I'm trying to put my fuel tank back on my R1100RS. I've labeled the pressure and return line on the tank side, but forgot to label the bike side of the lines. Both go to the pressure regulator under the battery, but I don't know which one is the pressure side and which one is the return side.

All the fiche pictures in the service manual and Clymer show the pressure regulator diagram, but do not note fuel direction. I am afraid hooking it up wrong could hurt the pressure regulator.

I can clearly see which line goes to the top of the regulator versus the bottom, but don't know which is which. Has anyone else made this mistake and figured out the orientation?

Thanks!
Jason

You may be able to look at the parts diagram from MAX BMW and go from there. No doubt a picture would help. Maybe a quick "key on" to see where the pump squirts.

The tank side with the pump I had marked already. It was the regulator side that wasn't labeled.

I found a bit in largiader that said the pump pressure side was the lower hose going into the regulator. I gave that a shot and it worked! So for anyone else in the future, the lowest line on the right side of the bike going to the pressure regulator is the high pressure pump side.

You don't really need to know which is which. The bottom tank line goes to the bottom distributor line.

I was a little concerned trusting the orientation because the lines were fresh and had no memory of their previous up down positions. Of course, now knowing that the lower is pressure, I can label the lines coming from the tank as "upper" and "lower".

What I mean is, if you look on the fuel pump plate you will see that one line emerges from the tank on top, and one on the bottom. This matches their connections at the distributor.
