Motorrad Days 2025 at Barber

visian

look out!!!
Has anyone been to one of these? Would be interested to hear how it compares to our National rally.

The 100th event that I went to in Berlin was pretty different... and the ones in Garmisch are pretty cool too,

Hola Ian! We’ve been to a bunch of these well-attended campouts & swap-meets. You'll have to decide soon as tickets go on sale for entry & campsites this Tuesday [20th] at 1400 Central/1500 EDST. BMW NA introduced the R1300GS in October of ’23 for their 100th year celebration. Last year they introduced the R13GSA, so you can image they’ll roll-out some new R13 variety this year {an RT perhaps}. The Vintage bikes & hacks will be racing Thur-Sun; our NAVMC team will race their 450 Honda. There will be an expensive Police Escort led Parade Lap(s) on Fri & Sat. They ride Goldwings and they allow for some sporty laps of the track [without passing the group in front of you]. I think we launched in three groups and we got up to 100mph in the straight sections; did maybe four laps total... Might not be your cuppa, but I gave it a try last year just to get a feel for the many curves.

BMW has a big presence in the Fan-Zone, with many New & Vintage bikes on display. They have some small articles of clothing at the sales-van, but generally they’ll tell you to shop online for your specific size [of leather glove]. They have a nice large Oktoberfest tent where folks can buy food nearby and enjoy some expensive beer/wine. If you’re camping nearby, U can just bring a beverage of your choice... We’ve enjoyed Wasabi Juan’s take of Tex-Mex-Japanese tacos (debit or credit-no cash anymore). Bring some good walking shoes, but they do offer free frequent tram shuttles around the venue with about 8 different stops including at the main museum entrance {likely very crowded on this weekend}.

Here are some pics from recent Vintage weekends.

Ciao, HSV-Phil & HSV-Karen :thumb :kbasa

Somewhat different vibe than the rally but huge fun! Not brand specific overall so there will be a presence (demo rides, etc.) by most major manufacturers. The races are the main draw and the museum is always worth seeing. Swap meet is worth several hours in itself. I haven’t tried to camp so can’t speak to that but if you decide to hotel best book very early. Comradely is very like the rally though w everyone a friend you haven’t met yet regardless which marquee they ride - just loving bikes!

Great event. Unfortunately the Motocross Des Nations, in Indiana, is going on at the same time so will be doing that even though it will probably rain again:) Last time I attended Barber had the opportunity for a short chat with Kenny Roberts and attended several presentations that included Kevin Cameron, David Aldana and Steve McLaughlin. Swap meet is something like 500 vendors. There will be demo rides, many road races and the largest motorcycle museum in the world. It is fun wandering thru the road race pits to see the unique bikes and their owners modifications. There is more to see than time to see it. Nice photos Phil.
