Lug the motor or rev it?

brewbaron

My butt hurts!!
I just bought a used 99 F-650 and after owning lots of multi cyclinder engines including a current K1200lt I have a question. Is it better to run the engive at higher revs or can you lug the engine down some? Or does the engine not care how it runs?

Thanks
Frank

It's a single cylinder, if you lug it you do more damage than anything.
Keep it reving at above 4000 RPM, it is a BMW, not a Harley.

This bike is sweet between 4,000 and 5,500 rpms. Don't be scared, it's got one of best engineered engines in the world.
