Ignition Switch On High Pitch Sound and Engine Off

On a new 2023 RT1250 with 35 miles. When press button on ignition switch to turn on accessories I get a constant no stop high pitch sound. What is the cause?

Welcome to the forum!
Any chance it’s the fuel pump that you are hearing?
Usually a 3 to 5 second “run up” as the bike gets ready to start. Not sure if it’s the fuel pump on that bike or why it would run longer.

I hear the high pitch sound after the fuel pump shuts off.

There's nothing wrong with your bike. My bike emits that same noise and has been doing it for 32k km. I don't know what it is but I don't care.

My '17 RS does that, too (49,000 miles). I can barely hear it after the bike gets finished with it's various "clicks and squeaks" after pushing the "on" button.
I wonder if it the gyro for angle sensor spooled up?

Frank

Seems like it would be good to know what the sound is....and....what to expect if the sound stops?

My '22 RT does it as well - I've narrowed it down to within the fairing and suspect it has something to do with the auto leveling/adaptive headlights. Maybe some sort of calibration for angle and lean.

When I initially picked the bike up the sales rep had the bikes accessories switched on to show me how to work the electronics. There was no high pitch sound. I am taking it to dealer tomorrow.

My 2019 RT makes the same noise. Coming from the throttle bodies. Totally normal from what I was told ...They all do that...lol

I didn't hear mine at the dealer either - when I got it home, it was really loud in my garage. Can't explain not hearing it then, unless it's just that ambient noise muffles it. I can barely hear it when I'm outdoors with a helmet on.

Oh yeah - one more thing. When I first heard it, I started the bike, waited a couple minutes and then hit the kill switch and set it back to run. The sound was gone - leading me to believe it's some startup activity.

Yea, it reads at 51 decibels at the battery location and about 32 decibels at the rider.

It's just the wallet sensor warming up. It determines how much cash/credit you have and picks the worst possible time to activate an expensive service warning. :laugh
