Ignition search

The ignition switch in my 72 R75/5 toaster is deteriorating. Anyone have any suggestions as to a reputable place to order a replacement?

BMW Hucky's lists a replacement p/n 61 32 8 048 173 on their website...called a terminal board. Bob's BMW is a good source for classic bike parts.

But where's the fun in a "real" key? :laugh
:laugh :thumb

Nonetheless, while 99.9999% of the world has no clue how easy it is to make off with a /5, it's nice knowing that I've at least made it harder for someone -- no just sticking a nail in it and riding off!

(That said, anyone with a bit of wiring knowledge can pop the headlight and jump some wires, but hopefully the key switch re-wiring will at least slow them done at bit!).

Thanks. I almost feel bad getting rid of one of those idiosycracys that make these bikes so unique - but I'm still going to do it. Thanks again.

I replaced my toggle switch ignition with a new switch and key that I got from Capital Cycle. Make sure you give them your ser.#,so you get the correct parts. I paid about $100 for the whole setup.:german
