Hex Ezcan configuration

My 1300 GS will be delivered on Tuesday. I have a Hex EzCan mojave to install so that I can install a Denali B6 tail light, a Denali horn, and a pair of Denali D3 lights.
Is there a preferred ..or best way to configure the device for those 3 devices?

Bob, it’s been awhile since I programmed a exCAN but as I recall the programming page is pretty clear in offering you options on set-up. Since you are only planning on running two circuits other than the auxiliary lights, you can power each auxiliary light on it’s own circuit or run them both on one and keep one free for another device ( radar detector for example). If you run with each light on its own circuit, then you can set it up so that a light goes out when the turn signal on that side is activated so the blinker is not obscured. If both lights are on one circuit, then both lights will go out when a turn signal is activated. I’m assuming that the latest ezCAN still offers only four circuits.

There are other options on how a device will function that come down to personal preference. The selection of these options is part of the initial programming.

Once an EzCan is hooked up to your Denali Lights/Horn, it's easy to configure/reconfigure until it works like you want. I have my aux driving lights each on its own circuit, horn on the horn circuit, and I have a set of Denali ambers mounted low on the forks, both connected to the last circuit (aux circuit).

I found the tutorials helpful on the Hex EzCan Site. The set up really depends on what you're connecting and what you want it to do. Just in case you haven't gone there yet, here's their site.

You can use each of these devices on one circuit and just configure in the software how you prefer they work. For lights, you can have a day/night brightness so full bright during day and 1/2 bright at night with full bright when high beams on, etc. You could also put the left/right aux lights each on a circuit, so use all 4 circuits and this allows you to turn off the aux light on one side when you use turn signal so the turn signal flash is not overwhelmed by the bright aux light. When it comes to configuring the Hex EzCan for your setup, I'd recommend giving the manual a once-over. Safety first, right? Maybe set up the horn so it's easy to reach in case you need it in a pinch, and tweak the lights for maximum visibility.

I have installed the Hex ezcan and a Denali B6 tail light and configured the brightness levels..easy. Now I’m waiting for the Touratech crash bars to arrive so that I can install the Denali D3’s and a Denali horn - I only want to remove the tupperware once.
I watched YouTube videos in advance and found the install very easy..

Did you make up a “Y” splitter cable to put both lights on one circuit?

My setup: Denali D2 driving lights mounted just below the mirrors, each light on its own circuit. Programmed to turn off when the turn signal is activated. Single cable from each light to each port.

Denali B6 red taillights (3 lightbars), surrounding 3 sides of my tag, all connected to the brake light port (siamese triplet cable)

Denali B6 Amber lightbar, mounted low on the forks, siamese cable to the aux port.

EzCan made it easy. They were quick to answer any question I had. More than once they (Hex) even answered my questions on the weekend, even tho' the canned response said I wouldn't receive an answer until Monday.

When I ran a cable from the ezcan to each light I had one light on full and the other light flickered very dimly - until I turned the bike off - then the light that had been bright turned off - and the flickering light came on full, and stayed on for a few seconds..

Sounds like it's time to run some diagnostics and check the wiring on the cables. Make sure you haven't switched the wires (ie, the ground wire should be the ground on both lights, etcetera). Enjoy the troubleshooting!

It got stranger…I made up a splitter cable, ran one cable from the ezcan to the splitter, then 2 cables from the splitter to each of the Denali D3 lights. The lights came on full..for a few minutes, then shut off - and there was a red blinking light on the ezcan.
My laptop couldn’t “see” the ezcan. I disconnected everything from the ezcan then I contacted Hex EZcan who told me how to reset the ezcan.
I then adjusted the amperage per channel so as not to exceed 30amps total and reconnected the Denali B6 tail light.
Tomorrow I will run 2 cables - one per light out of the ezcan.
