what kind of helmet lock does everyone use? just got a new arai and i dont want it to grow legs! the only bike i have with a lock is my k75s. 1100, /5, /2 and r100s dont have locks or cables. saw i nice one at riderwearhouse.

I use a bicycle cable lock

I found I like a good quality bicycle cable lock. I can use it many ways, as when I have full travel gear or just short rides. I can weave it through the chin guard or the d-ring. I went through a display and found a easy number, mine is has only two digits to remember. Works very nice. I can also use to to lock my jacket through the arm.

I'm still using the kuryakyn helmet lock on my RT and have been using the Helmetlok style for securing my helmets on other bikes.

I use a cable gun lock. Small, portable and will go through the chin bar, not just the D rings on the strap.

I use the Helmet Lock plate hoder from Ztechnik. Similar to the Kyryakin but two locks on it. I have a Schuberth C3 helmet,and there no D rings on it So I made a stainless steel cable and pass it through the chin bar of the helmet

I don't lock anything. The keys are always in my bikes and my cars. There are no locks on my house or my boats.

Why? I used to re-po cars; locks are a waste of time. A pro can get your stuff faster than you can find your key; an amateur will do more damage taking your stuff than it is worth.

I bought a light weight cable lock from a bicycle store. It has a four number combination.

Your R100S (and, I believe, the /5) have a helmet lock; its a metal tab under the seat, near the grab handle.

If the "1100" you mention is an R1100 something, then there is a metal wire hook under the passenger seat that is intended as a helmet lock, but it is pretty much unusable if you have the bags mounted. In that case, you can capture the D-rings or the buckle under the handle of the saddlebag.

I guess people didn't steal anything in the 50s and 60s, considering what the "ignition key" looks like on the /2. The bike is more likely to disappear than your helmet.

i have something similar that was originally meant to lock skis and poles at like a mid-mountain lodge, where you might lean your skis up with many others...
my lock is a combo lock the small cable retracts, and the whole thing is smaller than a deck of cards or pack of smokes, IE: pocket-sized. the cable isn't very long, perhaps the only downside. it WILL however, lock my helmet, and my girlfriend's helmet to the bike.

I bought a five foot Master cable lock with an adjustable combination. I keep it in my left hard bag and use it when my right bag is too full for my helmet. I can also put it through the arm of my jacket, too. Works like a charm. I got it at Home Depot for $10 or so. It looks like this:

+1, Although the diameter of my cable looks thicker than this one. I had an even thinner cable with a keyed pad lock that I used to use, but left the key in my other pants while at the Johnson City rally, and we were staying with family about an hour away. A riding buddy had a set of diagonal cutters in his tool pouch and they cut right through the cable like butter, thus the heavier cable now. I know that locks just keep honest people honest, but if my helmet/jacket disappear, at least I can tell the officer "yes, they were locked up".

In response to post #7 it would make me feel better to have to make a thief have to work to steal my $600-00 Arai than to just walk up and take it off my seat. I know that if i saw someone trying to jimmy a lock i would do something about it i dont care what kind of repo man you are. IMO
