Has anyone seen a comparison of Medjet coverage and the coverage offered by Spot.

About to renew my Spot dustoff coverage and wanted to evaluate the differences between their programs and those of Medjet.
Anyone seen or done anything I could use?

MedJet coverage doesn’t kick in until you are a set distance (150mi?) from home and have been admitted to a hospital. No admittance, no coverage—so one could potentially be injured enough to be unable to ride the bike but not injured enough to be hospitalized, so no coverage would kick in. Spot’s coverage, IIRC, only covers SAR costs and transport to a point of care and doesn’t cover getting you or your bike home. So, they are really two different coverages.

Personally, I don’t carry either and use SkyMed for me and the bike and self-insurance for transport from an incident scene to medical care. As with all insurance, best resource is a careful reading of the policy.

Takin’ my chances,

I'm covered through my Garmin inReach SAR plan.
Regardless of where I am, the cost of getting me from the accident scene to a hospital is covered.
Think about if you have to be air-lifted out. Those helicopters aren't cheap.
MedJet and my own insurance covers the rest. MedJet will get you hospital-to-hospital. And gets your bike back if there's anything left of it.

SkyMed. I have a friend who was badly injured in a motorcycle accident in Siberia. SkyMed paid to have a medical flight bring him back to Seattle from Siberia with a doctor and nurse onboard. The cost of the flight was $370,000.00; SkyMed paid it all.
