M1000XR reviews

I've seen a few ride videos/reviews of the M1000XR now, and BMW/dealers, what are you doing??

Almost every video I've seen involve two things.

1) A reviewer who can't stop gushing about how fast the bike is, and how ridiculous it is for the street.
2) A bike that's in the break in period and cannot rev past 7K.

Guys.. Have you seen the dyno chart on that engine? When it's in break in, the engine is restricted to around 1/2 the horsepower. I remember thinking, with my S1000XR, "this isn't that nuts" when I first got the bike. After the 600 mile service, my first run up to 11K was.. Well, eye opening! The big (ridiculous) power is all between ~7-12K on these engines, below that, they are "fast", sure, but I'm sure a 600CC sport bike, and maybe even a 600-700 parallel twin would dust up on a restricted S1000 engine.

It's just so silly, really makes you think that all these reviews are garbage/paid spots. Especially when you have someone who's an experienced rider; I mean, come on, you know this isn't "ridiculous power" and "mind boggling". Before the cap is removed, the BMW 1000 engine is pretty sedate. That's a good thing, it helps people focus on the bike and riding dynamics for the first 10-20 hours rather than trying to wrangle a monster. But it's just so silly, anyone of us who has a 1000 from BMW has been through this, the difference between the first 600 miles and the ones that follow might as well be two different bikes.

I'm just not sure why BMW would even let a reviewer ride these things restricted. Guess it doesn't matter, they are gushing anyway, but it's kind of embarrassing to hear these reviewers cry out "OMG" when then pin the throttle. ROFL, ugh, no, 100HP is fine, adequate, and probably about right for a street bike, but it's not "OMG" to someone with significant experience.

Here are two examples:
