GS911? 2023 1250RT

Greetings and Salutations one and all!

I would like to fine someone who has a GS911 I could visit to fix, what I consider to be a problem with my 1250RT. The speedo reads 5 mph high at nearly every speed. )ie: indicated 55 registers 50 on GPS) I'm currently using an old I phone with the speedometer app as an alternative to the TFT speedometer. I would LOVE to find someone within an hour or two of the Myrtle Beach, SC area who has one of these devices to correct this problem for me. I'm more than willing to compensate for the service.

Sorry to say, it’s typical for speedometers to read low. I don’t believe, with anything that I have come across, that it is adjustable/correctable.
There are a number of threads on this topic. If someone doesn’t reference one, I will dig up one later.

5 mph sounds like a lot for a newer model. Our 2022 bikes read about 1 mph high.
Our 2016 bikes read about 2 mph high when compared to a gps.
Do you have access to a GPS in case the phone app is wrong?

I don't understand why European vehicles insist on the speedometer reading high.
The speedometer on all of our Chevys since 2008 have been spot on.

Are the tire sizes proper for the bike? The OP said he was seeing low readings...that's not good and could lead to speeding violations without realizing it. Reading high "protects" the rider to some degree.

Thank you for responding. Yes, I have used two GPS systems, another motorcycle pacing me as well as the police speed cameras that announce your speed as you enter certain neighborhoods. They all confirm that it reads high by 4 to 5 mph. Last may on my ride up to the Americade (a huge disappointment, but that's another story) I used the I phone for the entire 3000 miles.

I also found this on the BMW Sport Touring forum, "I recently purchased one of the GS-911 diagnostic tools from Hex Innovate and buried under one of the Instrument screens is a set of options that read data settings from the ECU and basically say "Actual Reading XXXkm/hr Display YYYkm/hr" where XXX had values of 30, 100, and if I recall something like 150km/hr but the YYY values were all 6% higher (e.g. Actual Reading 100km/hr Display 106km/hr". By correcting the Display values to read the same as the Actuals my speedometer is now displaying the correct speeds. I found it odd too that the bike was recording the trip mileage correctly (again, compared to my Garmin) even though the speed was too high. Now I know."

Yes, the tire sizes are the correct size, OE Michelin Road 6. The incorrect readings were first observed on the ride home from picking it up at the dealership. When at an indicated 55 mph, the GPS is between 49 and 50 mph. I hope this clarifies the original post.

I forgot that's a new option on the GS-911

It's easy to correct the 5 mph speed in your head, but it would mess with my OCD.

Not only does it mess with my OCD it really screws me up when I have to take the car somewhere and find myself going 60 when I want to do 55!

Yes, the GS-911 can adjust that. I did my 1250RT a couple weeks ago. First time in 12 years of riding BMW's that it shows the actual speed! Mine was about 4 mph high, still trying to get used to having the real speed! I'm about half the country away so not a lot of help to you.

The latest GS911 software does allow recalibrating the speedometer on models with the TFT screen. I've already done both my F850GSA and R1250RT. It is nice to have the speedometer read the actual speed. My GSA required a second adjustment of the values as it ended up reading lower than actual when set to equal values. There are three reading values that can be set depending on the model, on both mine being Canadian bikes they were 50, 100, and 250. My GSA I ended up at 51, 102 and 255 for the correct reading to display.

I wish you had reached out 10 days ago. We just got back from our winter near Hilton Head, SC. (Margaritaville)
I brought my '24 RT with me to ride and picked up a GS911 to adjust the speedo, as you alluded to. My speedo is now in 100% agreement with every GPS device I have compared it to.
