That is because back then Gerbing acquired one or more Warm & Safe controllers and reverse engineered the circuits. Then they commissioned a company located somewhere on the globe to manufacture controllers for Gerbing. Mike at W&S complained loudly at the time. Interestingly, there was a minor glitch in the circuitry for the early W&S controllers and the knockoffs repeated that error in their production. I have been a Warm & Safe fan and user ever since, because I really don't like tech piracy. I didn't then; I don't now. YMMVAt the Midland, Michigan MOA rally (early 2000s as I recall) I purchased a Gerbing heated jacket liner and gloves. The wired controller (which I still use) looks identical to those sold by Warm n' Safe ...
