2022 BMW R1250GS On my way to ADV in the NC mountains I stopped for fuel. Gassed up and the engine starter would click once and the dash screen stayed lit. Off and on with the sane results. Pulled the battery cover off, cleaned and retighten terminals with no change. My first thought was a weak battery. Nice young man with a couple UTVs stopped asked he could help. He had one of those small handheld jump boxes. Connected and fired right up. Road home with no issues, dash was showing battery green at 14.4 volts. Got home and check for fault codes with my GS911. Showed a Tank Switch Error / key immobilizer 0x80401d. Pulled the switch assembly apart and checked for any damaged wiring. All good so assembled and checked functioning. All good. Cleared the code and now it’s not showing as being present.
Sitting on the bike the battery through a volt meter is 12.9. I’m going to let the battery tender show green and then I will do a start load test with the voltmeter.
Could the fault code cause the no start or thinking weak battery.
