cruise control problem 99 K1200LT

Got another problem for you guys. My cruise control is not working. I went on Youtube and found the video for doing the self test. The cruise control checks that it is on but when you do all the checks on all the micro switches they all fail . If one had failed I would just fix/adjust that one switch, however, when all failed it suggests that perhaps there is a central problem. Does anyone know if there is a central plug for all the micro switches or something else embarrassing simple. This is a rebuild job, so I could have missed a plug somewhere. Any suggestions.

The only common elements in this system are the cruise control unit -- a combination electronic controller and a servo motor pulling on the third cable to the throttle rail -- and the plug/connector for the CC unit.

The microswitches are all independent devices dispersed about the bike, often performing multiple functions, so they are not all cruise-dedicated (for example, rear brake pedal switch triggers brake lights as well as generating a cruise cancel signal).

Assuming the connector is fully seated, and there is no evidence of the wires upstream of the connector bing severely damaged, I would suspect the cruise control unit has failed (any external evidence of damage to the unit from the crash that caused the need to rebuild the bike?).

There is no outward sign of damage. The only indication I have that the control unit is okay is the self test. While I have the key off and turn the CC on, hold the switch to the set position, then turn the key on, the CC light is active and responds to moving the set switch back and forth. The only thing that doesn't respond during the test are the microswitches. Both hand and foot brakes switches for the lights work so again suggesting a core problem, I do have an extra unit.

I have the BRAKE! LED unit on my 04 RS, no problem with the cruise control.
You might find some help here, good luck.

Great video. Have a reoccuuring cruise control problem on an '02 RS. This video helped me trace to the problem to either the throttle adjustment or a a stuck micro-switch (located someplace I would never have checked). Will fix next time I take the plastric off.
