Concept F450GS

Is it built by Loncin?
Looks like it’s intended to compete directly with the CF Moto Ibex 450.
Pricing will be interesting …

BMW is lacking in the smaller displacement bikes and a 450 is a step in the right direction IMHO… China or not, it’s where a lot of bikes are made just like in India. We have this strange notion that the rest of the planet lives in caves all the while we are far behind in many aspects. Just think high speed rail systems…. YMMV

Pricing on the new concept 450 will be interesting because BMW has historically added unique features to their product to allow them to compete in the market on something other than price. It’s called product differentiation in marketing. In this case however, the existing and apparently very similar 450 Ibex competition is already loaded with features like a TFT display, USD forks, and cross-spoke tubeless wheels, at a CF Moto (Chinese) price point. I’m not sure inclusion of the patented Wonder Wheel alone will be enough to differentiate the new concept 450. Maybe BMW WILL include a service manual with this bike. We can only hope …

If the unique feature is Cruise Control, then I'm all over it. Sadly, zooming in on the video I don't see it.....

There is still speculation as to where this bike might be built. India’s TVS is a possibility, but Chinese supplier Loncin has more experience building something as “large” as a 450. German labor unions would of course want it to be built in Germany, but I think the best they can hope for is minimal final assembly content there from mostly foreign sourced parts.

Which makes me wonder … Given BMW’s significant investment and presence in the successful Spartanburg car assembly plant, wouldn’t it be nice if they at least considered starting up a small motorcycle final assembly operation there for the new 450? Kawasaki was successful in Lincoln Nebraska and Honda in Marysville, Ohio, and looming tariffs might incentivize a final assembly startup operation in the US.

I wonder if BMW has given it any consideration?

Tariffs are likely to apply to all the parts that are coming in too. Anything not manufactured here. Including food (like all the fruits and veg coming up from Mexico) and lumber (coming down from Canada).

Maybe, but I believe Kawasaki and Honda started motorcycle assembly in the US to avoid the early ‘80’s tariff on bikes over 700cc, and Toyota, Nissan, Ford and Mercedes either assemble or have re-assembled imported trucks and vans in the US for years to avoid the 25% “chicken tax”.

A little looking around on the internet suggests late 2025. 🤷‍♂️
It would be cool to take a look.

Somebody on the site answering the Q & A says the release is in May?

Need to find out where the factory is so we can have a local go look thru the window:)

Not sure but it might be a TVS build:
Also unconfirmed the 310 will be discontinued.

Worldwide there are suddenly lots of bikes in this class, the Honda 500, Benelli 502, Morini 450, and CfMoto 450, but the adv crowd is aging and needs smaller, lighter bikes.
