Clutch engagement

Guys/gals,

The clutch lever on my '02 GS seems not to engage until it is nearly all the way released (about 7/8ths of the way out). I have tried the adjustment on the lever at all 3 settings and there does not seem to be much difference. I should note that I did have the slave cylinder replaced lst fall. I have no slippage or other problems under hard acceleration.

How do I adjust this? Does the system need to be bled or something like that?

Thanks all,

Screwtop

Check your level in the sight glass for a leak.
No leak, then I would bleed it for sure and look for contamination in the master as well as in the fluid.
It sounds like it is just soft and should right itself with clean, on the right level fluid.
Was the slave contaminated?

I can't see or detect any leaks at the master or slave. When the slave failed last year, it was contaminated. I'm having checked over really good before I leave on my trip, so hopefully this is just a matter of blleding as you suggest.

I think it's a worn clutch

Sounds to me like you have a worn clutch.
The different positions of the lever has nothing to do with clutch engagement.
If there were a problem with the master of slave cylinder or air in the system it would only prevent the clutch from DIS-engaging and if there was enough air in the system, or no brake fluid at all, the clutch would not dis-engage at all.
