Chicago area riding

Oh brother.
Those aren't little pickles they are "sporties".
The neon green relish is traditional, including the color.
I usually ask for everything less the monster pickle.
Sometime they give you the option of fresh cucumber slices, which I prefer.
And whole celery seed as opposed to the celery salt (traditional), as you see here.
Poppy seed bun, traditional, also gently steamed.
NO KETCHUP!

But ya know, to each his own.
I'm familiar with Coney Island dogs. Nathan who? And he's what? :stick
I think in Boston they have something called "dirty water dogs" but I have never enjoyed.
Bubba may want to comment on that. Or not.

Like pizza (we beat that thread to death already as we have the dogs) everyone has there preferences and there are plenty of vendors out there willing to accommodate.

:eat
Actually, I dig Chitown dogs. Never had one with the dayglo relish, but I recall trying Demon Dogs and Superdawgs (that still around?).

If it's food, it's all good. :eat

good grief!

It's not like you're going to drive thru Afghanistan. We drive and ride here daily. ok. Sometimes it's frustrating and the loonies are more densley packed on our thorofares and byways, but w a little planning you can have a pleasant...ish ...ok tolerable ride thru the city. Obviously gps and/or an am radio are handy. Radio 670 am has traffic reports every ten minutes on the 8's. ie. 12:08, 12:18, 12:28, etc etc. get a liitle familiar with which roads they're talking about . They usually start on the North end of town; The Edens (which connects to 41) and Kennedy (the one NW out to O'Hare and the 294), then do the Eisenhower (straight West from the city) then the South side(Dan Ryan) freeways etc. Most of the time btw about 10 am and 2:00 pm you can get thru the city on the expressways pretty well. Some days very well. Rte.41/Stoney Island is a good alternate/escape plan from the south and east. Yes. You go thru a "neighborhood". But most of "those people" are busy going to the bank and the grocery store and crossing the street and really don't have the time to mug you. The real upside of that route is the trip up Lakeshore Drive, past Museum Row, Soldier Field, Millenium Park (really worth a stop) and the whole beautiful lakefront. You can cross back to the expressway (90/94) in five, or ten, or twenty minutes depending on how far north you go. You could go past Wrigley. "The Cell" (White Sox) is along the Dany Ryan, that is the south end of 90/94
Send a pm for more info or a phone. I work right in "The loop" on Randolph a couple blocks from Lakeshore Drive, and live out near the airport. Near the 94/294 intersection. If you have time for a coffee, or certainly if you need any help, or a place to stop for a break, It'd be great to say hi and meet you. Maybe ride along for a bit if the timing works out.
It's a great town. Come enjoy and don't get freaked. Even if you're in some crappy congested traffic, it'll likely only last a few minutes, ok 30 minutes, then change again, ....ok and then back to crappy. Lane splitting is illegal, but frankly, sometimes it's the only reasonable thing to do. assuming the basic idea itself doesn't put you off. I know this rambles, but I'd hate you to miss the city if you don't have to. Ride safe.
