1 year in with a 2022 C400GT and am pretty pleased with the addition of this machine to my garage. Hoping to interact with others who are into the latest breed of BMW gas-powered urban mobility machines.

Pretty much crickets here on the scooter site. My brother has a ‘22 Triple Black which he enjoys. Mostly around his smaller town however, he’s done a few hundred miles on Interstate. He does wish it had TPM, it not a big deal. Think he’s getting about 55 mpg. He’s 87…I tell him he shouldn’t be riding any more however he says it keeps him young. Ride safe!

I don’t think many of these were sold, but you may consider checking out a local “meetup” group in your area for scooter rides. The c400 (actually a 350) is considered a “maxi”, and Vespa GTS, Honda Silverwing, Suzuki Burgman, Kymco AK and Yamaha Majesty riders might be good riding companions.

Also, Loncin, the company that makes the c400, has begun selling essentially the same machine in selected markets under its own brand, VOGE. There aren’t any VOGE dealers near here yet, but I don’t know about your area. If nothing else, most parts should be interchangeable.

Three years into owning this machine and just hit the 5,000 mile mark. It is my second bike (to a 2003 R1150 RT), used year-round for local commuting, errands, and fair weather joy rides. That MPG is amazing.

Adding the top case made all the difference in terms of utility, and it has made my GF a bit more comfortable with the idea of riding pillion. It was ridiculously expensive, sold only in parts (not a kit or package) and it took two BMW Motorrad dealers to get all the right parts, and my independent mechanic to assemble and install the damn thing, but it has been a big plus.

The bike just exited the warranty period so I am bracing for surprises…I will keep you posted.

@jtcantwell I used to ride the Suzuki Burgman 400. I really enjoyed it for the most part. I got rid of it due to Suzuki as a whole. They did NOT stand by their product when the Throttle Body started having issues, where the ECU would kick-up F1 error on the dash. A little searching on the internet turned up this was a known and common issue in the Suzuki world not just the Burgman 400, but some of their sport bikes as well. Then to make matters worse, Suzuki closed various dealerships in the DFW, TX area....so that left a bad taste. I did purchase a new throttle body to fix the issue, but that just killed it for me. The 2nd thing I did NOT like about the Suzuki was the plastic pins used to secure all the panels. Hated them as they popped off and flew across the garage making it very hard to find them. I now have a 2010 R1200RT and 2022 G310R. I may follow your path one day on getting the C400GT!

Thanks for sharing your story. I looked at a used BMW 650 several years ago but the vibe I got from talking with people with experience was to avoid that machine. The C400 GT seems to have fixed several of the issues with the previous scooter offering, and I have not missed the extra CCs as the is plenty fast.

How do you like the G310R? I see those from time to time and think it could be a great addition to the fleet.

@jtcantwell. I really like the G310R, it's light and flickable. It came with top case. I added 2 x SHAD side cases as well. This combination makes for a very light and practical around town motorcycle. Originally bought it so my 22 year old son could learn on a nice and easy motorcycle.

I find when I switch back and forth between the R1200RT and the G310R, it helps me to improve my slow riding skills on the R1200RT.

Thanks E. That's a good point about alternating between a small bike and a larger one - I have found the same since adding the C400 GT to my garage.

We will be moving soon to a place where I will be able to keep both bikes handy and on trickle chargers all year-round so there should be plenty of riding hours and days very soon!

Enjoy all your rides on whatever 2-wheeled vehicle U choose to venture out on! We rented two BMWs in Honolulu at the end of Dec so we each could say we’ve ridden BMW M/Cs in all 50 states. Karen’s C400 was much easier for her to ride than the R18 I rented on riders-share.com...

Having a fear of losing a bike key,I have always had additional keys made for my bikes (and trailer), just in case a key should be misplaced.

I can understand due to the expense of foregoing a second fob, and not intending to be obnoxious, but why not have backup keys?

A local locksmith has made mine from blanks from BMW for my old K and his blanks for 90s BMW cars for my Oilhead.
