BMW R1250rt Connected App. - Use with standard bluetooth earbuds?

On my 2021 R1250rt, which I bought recently, was wondering if the BMW Connected App. can be used with standard Bluetooth Earbuds in lieu of helmet mounted bluetooth communicators?? Thank you. (P.S. still experimenting with TFT and Connected App.)

It can, but in many states earphones/headphones are illegal, while earplugs and in-helmet speakers are not.

I’d expect that Bluetooth is Bluetooth and they should connect.
