How far we've come! I'm more partial to the one on the right...but that's just me!!

I have one that is most like the one on the left, but I comprehend about as much information as the one on the right provides. :scratch
 
But Charlie, they did include the blue tic marks for added information (limits for each gear)! Nothing like just listening to the engine to know when to shift. "We don't need no stinking tach."
 
How many years did BMW use a backwards sweep on the speedometer?
Did any other companies use a backwards sweep?
Whats the correct term for a backwards speedometer?
 
It isn't backwards, just upside down!
The needle still rotates clockwise for higher speed. Zero is at the top instead of the bottom.
