Anybody taping Deadliest Catch tonight?

The_Veg

D'OH!
OK, so I'm being taken out for a birthday dinner and my VCR dies as I try to set it to tape the season finale of Deadliest Catch. If anybody's taping it, send me the tape after you watch it and I'll buy you a beer at the rally. :drink

Yeah and I was taping it more for her than me...she's a huge fan. I guess while I'm out riding she can sit by the tube waiting for the re-run.
As long as we're confessing television-watching guilty pleasures, I can't wait for Dirty Jobs to come back next week. :D

I'll get a DVR when they make one that requires no additional subscriptions or other charges to use.

+1 on that.

If you're big into computer stuff, you can always make your own, which requires no subscription. Everything you need is at http://www.mythtv.org

This is not for the "I know how to start windows and get online"... looks to require quite a bit of computer geek knowledge. You will need to know about Linux, video cards, video capture cards, and more. I keep meaning to build one for myself; but I always seem to spend the money on my bike. :)

mythtv is great. Have a look at knoppmyth. It is a very cool way to get it up and running with minimal fuss. Almost painless. ;)

Love Deadliest Catch. Love it.
Something about those pots stuffed with crab.

The next one up is Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel.
Same formula, complete with a load count. Caught the repeated first episode last night, and I was holding my breath.

These guys are NUTS.

Don't want to ruin the ending for ya...but, they caught the crabs!:laugh :laugh :laugh

great show, saw the original show on History Channel before this series...showed a lot more bad days and empty pots. Gotta give those CRAZY boys an attaboy for taking high risks even for major payoffs...I get freaked with 6' waves in the Gulf or bay...and it isn't near that chilly!

Dirty Jobs . . .

Do you will think they will bring back the "Dirty Jobs" show? Or is Mike Rowe destined to do "Deadliest Catch" voiceovers and Ford truck commercials the rest of his life?

Next Tuesday at 9PM. DJ gets it time slot back.

Mike Rowe has promos on Discovery Channel where he announces the new season of Dirty Jobs, starting next Tuesday, I believe.

One of the coolest things about Deadliest Catch is that I can hop on the bike, ride for 10 minutes, and see all the boats tied up to their docks here in Seattle!

Here's a picture I took of The Wizard at berth.

BTW we *DID* catch the missed episode last night. And yeah, I kinda figured they caught the crabs...wait...Ummmm, not that kind of crabs I hope! :D

As for Dirty Jobs, I'm pretty stoked about that coming back too. It's one of my favourites. In my current job as maintenance-guy at a nursing home, most days are fairly clean- but every now and then I have 'one of those Mike Rowe days.' These would be the days when I have to do something like re-mount a toilet or crawl around in the attic, and the baddest of them all- removing, dismantling, un-jamming and remounting the waste disposal under the dishwasher's sink. You do *NOT* want to know what kind of nasty funk accumulates in and around that thing, and the smell is unbelievable! I've also had to spend enough time chiseling ice out of a zero-F walk-in freezer to make me thoroughly numb even with good winter-gear on, and I've also spent hours cleaning out an old freight-container/storage shed in the hot TexSux sun.
I've also had some dirty times working as an engineering-support-contractor for hospitals.
Too bad the show won't do any segments having to do with healthcare.

DJ is great... even enjoy DC a lot.... but got a new one..

ICE ROAD TRUCKERS... looks like it is going to be a good one...

that show ROCKS!
I have to catch my breath.
like waiting for a crabbing boat to flip over, we will be waiting for a 18 wheelers to plunge through the ice.

Nuts

Speaking of dirtiest jobs...

Scraping dried on ink from the bottom of printing presses. The solvent (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) is the absolute worst. One whif and I get a pounding headache. Then there was the time I got to clean track presses. These things take the tracks off of bulldozers and trackhoes and assemble and disassemble them by pushing the pins and bushings in and out. They would be full of grease and mud and other manners of hazardous waste. I was so glad when I got the joy of removing lavatories out of commercial airliners. I am suprised I don't have permanent damage of some sort.
