2024 National Rally: REDMOND Oregon

LOL .... would you expect anything less ?

I know, right? Sometimes, I used to think that MOA stood for "Mountain Outta Anything" as in Make a Mountain out of a Molehill. :ha

And I'm saying that completely from a place of love, no sarcasm at all.

Just what I always wanted to do....NOT!!! Stand out there in a howling wind and rain! And the giant pendulum called government swings once again.

Oh, the agony of having to deal with First World problems!

Pete (In the land of thirty below zero winters. Somehow we manage to survive while pumping our own gas.)

So, getting back to the rally…. Redmond’s fairgrounds has a lot of grassy expanse for camping, but I booked a room today just because. It’s hard to find anything in Redmond or most of central Oregon for under $200/night during summer tourist season! But at least the online booking window is open for most motels.

Last week I picked up at the Chief Joseph Rally very useful motorcycle road map printed by a company called “Come Ride With Us” motorcycle maps. These are printed by https://comeridewithus.net/ and they have maps available for Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Printing/hosting costs for hand-out or downloadable maps are apparently supported by advertising for food and lodging. Paved roads are shown in red, unpaved in blue, all on a white background, and the map was quite useful in planning local rides.

Redmond is kind of on the border between their SW Oregon and NW Oregon maps but is shown on both. It would be great if both NW and SW maps were in the rally packet or available for pickup at the information booth (hint, hint).
Just sayin…

Do you have the Butler Map for Oregon? They're amazing. I've lived here in NorCal for nearly 25 years and it showed me stuff near me I'd never ridden.

Pretty much what I found as well. And with the comments here from locals about how busy Bend was I opted to book in Prineville which is about 20 miles east and a straight shot. Country Inns & Suites for about $147 / night. It had very good reviews and when I called Baily at the front desk was super helpful and got me 10% AAA discount. There is gas and convenience store next door and a couple restaurants walking distance. It checked all the boxes in for me. Hope to see others there!

I booked Prineville for the same reasons… easy ride to the Rally, less traffic, and great day riding to the East and Northeast out of Prineville…I’m riding up from Northeastern California…. I also recommend, depending upon your route, stopping at Crystal Crane Hot Springs outside of Burns, Oregon…. As always YMMV..

At the last Redmond rally my wife and I stayed at the BW in Prineville, and it was a good place, more reasonable than Redmond. But I didn’t want to make the 25-30 minute ride after stopping by the beer garden…
:)
BTW, last time I was through Prineville there was a good BBQ place there.

Jeez, dude. Nobody cares.

We all put our own gas in our vehicles without moaning about it, especially in a rally thread. Maybe start your own thread about how having to pump your own gas is going to absolutely end your life because you might get rained on. Do you see any Oregon voters in this thread that can do a thing about your state laws?

Thinking everyone that attended VA,
