2023 Richmond VA: The 50th National MOA Rally

This reminds me of my ride from Atlanta to Morganton, NC in 1996. I went by way of Nova Scotia…

Glenlivet and I did the same thing a couple years ago. Great Falls was too close to Vermont so we dipped down to Kentucky, across Nevada on the Loneliest Hwy in America (which was a very pleasant ride) to Lake Tahoe, up to Lassen NP and over to the California coast and Redwoods NP, thru the West Cascades to Hells Canyon, up and over Lolo Pass, further north to Glacier NP, and finally to the rally.

True about that, and there's a problem. Just too many people may be out looking, with few choices nearby of any type.

Hoping for a nice traditional choice on-site, and those fantastic fruit bowls with yogurt and granola (fitness foo-foo stuff from a food truck)!

My standard breakfast is two eggs. When we travel I boil eggs and eat hardboiled eggs. A few slices of pre-cooked bacon can round out my breakfast nicely. So I don't think I will get too worked up about breakfast.

I do that when home sometimes when I'm in a hurry [cook 8 at a time to hard boiled ]. When I'm motoring I want an actual breakfast served on a plate that's got hot food. Even if it's just a bowl of oatmeal, cold breakfasts aren't in the cards when traveling.

You keep those hard boiled eggs refrigerated how when you travel?. It's not recommended they sit at room temp for more than a few hours.

At a good number of these National get togethers I usually start working by 8:30 each morning, making getting served breakfast and back to the Rally site on time often difficult. After arriving and pitching my tent, I find a local grocery store and stock up on breakfast food for the duration of the Rally. I either bring a collapsible cooler or buy a styrofoam one when buying the food. Breakfast is my major meal of the day so at the Rally, I pretty eat much the same as home; a couple cups of coffee, a variety of fruit, fried eggs, mushrooms and either bacon or sausages followed by yogurt. Although on these trips I travel with a one wheel trailer and a very tiny stove, I could still have this breakfast without a trailer.

Of course when travelling in bear country, I pack and prepare only coffee.

Thank you. We are registered for an overland spot. Can we keep our vehicle on the spot? We are not bringing bikes due broken bikes beyond my control

Not sure what an "overland" spot it, but farther down that same page is a section on driving to the rally and camping. You can only drive to your camping spot to drop equipment off...can't leave your vehicle there long term.

I think that "overland spots" are places where folks can boondock in the vehicles. Thus I think the vehicle can/does stay!
