I just purchased a used 2016 R1200RT, but the key fob will not activate the central locking system or set the alarm. The bike will start if within range, I have determined the battery must be dead. I can not get the battery cover off, I have tried a knife small screwdriver it says in the manual just press the cover upwards to remove.
It will not come up, unfortunately i am damaging the case. Any suggestions?

Hey my Man
Thank you, I guess you can find anything on youtube. It was tough popping that off but i got it.
Thanks again

You should get an icon on your dashboard if your key fob battery is low.

I also have a 2016 and have needed to change out my key fob battery once.

Changed the battery on my 15 RT FOB used a no name brand
6 months later got a low battery warning. Pays to buy a name brand

I had a similar situation. I put in a cheapie ($2) and it was gone in a couple of weeks. Got the Duracell and it's still working nearly a year later. It's a great thing that the bike gives the low battery warning.
