2014 Rt 1200 alternator info

I have read that BMW changed the alternator design to a better unit sometime in 2014. Does anyone know what month this was done. My bike production is 4/14. Should I be worried about my alternator going out? I know this is a very expensive repair. My bike has 34000 miles. I love the bike but would hate to have to pay 3000- 3500 for repairs. Thank you in advance for any information on this issue.

Welcome to the forum! I'm not completely familiar with the Wethead systems but I found this post:

https://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthrea...l-year-changes&p=997142&viewfull=1#post997142

What I gather is that with the '14 model, that began the Wethead design and everything was different. The post mentions moving the alternator to a different location which meant lots of differences. So if it was for the '14 model, that would include bikes built during the latter part of 2013, probably from September on.
