Hello all, new member here from North Carolina. Been riding for years but now I'm the proud owner of my very 1st BMW motorcycle. Went with a 2024 R1250 GSA and I'm very pleased so far. Just for interest here's the progression of bikes that got me here (not necessarily in order):

2005 HD Sportster 1200
2005 Honda CBR 1000RR
2005 HD Dyna Super Glide Custom
2005 HD Heritage Softail
2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250
2014 Triumph Tiger 800XC
2017 Yamaha FZ-07
2017 KTM Duke 390
2018 Kawasaki ZX1000W
2021 HD Street Bob 114
2023 HD Road Glide Special
2024 HD Heritage Classic 114
2024 BMW R1250 GSA

Glad to be on here so I can get the latest tips, tricks, info, and suggestions from those with more experience in the BMW realm. I'd be curious to know what's the 1st modification members did to their bikes after purchase? Or, alternatively, anything members would steer clear of? Thanks!

Thanks for the link...time to soak up some knowledge

Welcome to BMW and the MOA.
I see BMW has a good incentive on the 2024 GSA now.

Where at in NC?

Willkommen, cbmet, from Rocket City in the Tennessee River valley!
Glad that U finally got the bug for a BMW; I think you’ll find it very useful for all your New Year’s ADVenturing. :nod NC is a reasonably short jaunt from Lebanon, TN {so be there or Miss Out on a great opportunity!}. We’ll be there after an easy commute from HSV; camping in the TimeOut glamper. The rally in 2019 was fabulous due to dry and comfortable conditions. Maybe 2025 will also go easy on the long-distance campers. Attaching a pic from the recent rally in Redmond, OR. They’re all unique depending on the location, weather, vendors, attendance and possibly other manufacturers offering their bikes for testing. Nine brands showed up at Barbers’ Vintage Festival in Leeds this past Oct. :thumb

Should U feel inspired, the MOA Foundation will give U a Training stipend for taking a professional course. We took the 2-day dirt course at the BMW factory in Greer a decade ago; it was money well spent back when we both were touring on littler-GS’s... But any solid training would work; maybe MotoMark1.com in Burlington, NC would work for U...

Clayton area
Welcome! Piedmont triad here. I'd suggest you look into the BMW Tarheel Travelers, a BMW MOA Chartered local club.
The club membership is from all over NC, but the largest concentration of members and activities are in the Rahleigh and surrounding areas.
They have regular meetups, rides, and eats. Nice people. Membership dues are very small.

Welcome from upstate NY. Since you're not too far from Greer, SC look into the BMW training center programs. Great opportunity. Another suggestion is to scope out the BMWST Appalachian Riding Tour events held twice a year at locations that are likely within a day's ride or so from you. Lots of owners who arrive to ride (and be social afterwards).
