2002 K1200RS Negative Battery Connections

I was also thinking two but could not remember for sure.
When I google for pictures I found several pictures showing two ends.

Anton, if I may,

Yes, the forward end of the battery.

There are two large "bundles" of wires connected to the negative pole as my bike sits.

Somewhere in one of the K bike posts there was mention of a single black wire along with the two bundles of wires.

And, Lee, if I may, that is about all I get when I try to get a picture of a K1200RS battery and the connections.

The problem is I am still experiencing a high idle and the idea that there may be a "missing" battery connection came up.

If there is anyone with a good running 2002 K1200RS that can check their battery connections, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for the help. I really want to get Rotti back on the road.

This would really help to know for sure.
With my fuzzy memory I thought there was also a small gauge wire.
I looked through my old pictures and did not have any good pictures of the battery area.

When I check my CD for the K1200RS I don't see anything special about the connections and nothing stands out on the picture,

Reconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched
off. To avoid short-circuits:
Connect the positive battery lead (+) first,
position the protective cap over the positive battery
terminal,
then connect the negative battery lead (—).
Make sure that the battery breather hose is not kinked
or blocked.
Battery acid is highly caustic. Do not permit escaping
acid vapour to contact the motorcycle body
parts.

Lee, Anton,

I've done quite a bit to correct Rotti's high idle issue with no luck.

My wife's central nervous system lymphoma cancer, stim cell transplant and hospitalization due to covid put a halt to working on our bike for the past couple of years.

Now that she is "cancer free" I am back into trying to solve the issue.

I'll type up a full description of what the symptoms are and what actions have been taken.

I appreciate your help.

As far as I know it’s just maybe a single cable on early bikes and definitely double on later ones. I don’t think there was ever three from the factory.
