'07 R1200RT Front Brake Pad Replacement

I have to replace my front brake pads in a few miles. I need to know the torque for the caliper bolts and anything else I need to know about changing the pads. Anything will be appreciated.

Don't know about the RT, might be different, but the caliper bolts aren't touched to change front pads on the GS. Only the pin which is torqued to 7 Nm. Lube the pin with a light coat of anti-seize.

I just about finished a DIY for pads. Should be available in a few days in the new DIY tech section. Just for info, you do not need to remove the calipers on the front to replace pads.
And just for my curious nature...how many miles on your bike?

My bike has 11868 miles on it. I won't actually change the pads for around 2k but want to know how to do it. I'll wait for the DIY and do it after I've read that. Thanks!!

Wow! That's some serious stopping you do there. My 06 has around fifteen thousand miles on it and both front and rear pads are still over 75% according to the dealer. My 04 had 30,000 on it when I sold it and pads were still over 50%. I do a lot of mountain and back road riding here in Oregon and stay off the super slab.

Just for reference, I changed my '06 pads at 32K miles. I could still clearly see wear slits, but changed them at a convenient time.

While we are talking brake pads, what are people replacing them with? Stock or something else?

I replaced mine with stock pads. No squeak, perform well, and I thought I would go with what was working.

I live in San Francisco and it's hilly with a stop sign at every block. Eats up front brakes like nobuddy's business. On my 1150 RS I gobbled up the pads (twice) and the rotors (once) in 28k.

I have been using their pads on several bikes for awhile , no complaints here
