Just getting around to posting a pic of my Oilhead. Mainly because I am new to BMWs and didn't know what an Oilhead was. A year since purchasing it (with 33k original miles), I can now change all of the fluids and remove the front and rear wheels. I hope to learn much more so I can work on it myself at my ability level; and, more importantly, know when I'm over my head. Look forward to many adventures.

Welcome. My 2003 R1150RT was my introduction to BMW when I bought it 6 years ago. There are helpful people and lots of good info to be found here. I've been pleasantly surprised at how easy the routine maintenance is on this machine. And the way it rides! Well, you already know that.

Welcome aboard and to the wonderful world of Oilhead BMW’s. I bought my ‘02 RT in 2017 which only had around 15k miles on the bike at the time. I’ve loved it ever since. You will not find a more knowledgeable and experienced group of owners/riders than the members of this forum. They have helped me extensively over the years with guidance, troubleshooting issues and just overall knowledge of my bike. These bike have been around 20+ years now so there’s a wealth of knowledge to share and many of the members still ride R1150’s in all the different variants.

I hope you enjoy your bike as much as I’ve enjoyed mine and I hope it brings you years of trouble free miles. If you need anything, just reach out.
