02 K1200RS Cruise Control

Out There Somewhere
I have an issue with my CC- it is working intermittently. When switched on, the red "on" light is lit. Sometimes the CC works, other times, no. I want to open up the housing on the L handlebar controls and see what is going on. Has anyone done so? Anyone ever have this issue? The bike just turned 69K miles on the clock.

I used to have a K bike manual, but must have sent it away when I sold my old K100RS. I no longer have it.

Thanks.

EDIT: a quickie search turned up this trouble shooting video, posted below.
There is an interesting statement saying that if any one of the four check points has any sort of problem, this could cause the cruise control to not function. I believe I need a small adjustment in my brake pedal- my "brake failure" light was staying on on a recent trip, and one of my travel companions commented that my brake light stayed on a lot. I found that "lifting" the pedal with my toe caused the brake light "failure" alert light to go out, probably also causing the brake light to go out? (I was riding alone at the point where I discovered this) I had been thinking a small adjustment of the brake pedal return limit/stop nut might be in order?

Any comments or theories, or experience is/are most welcome.

Before adjusting the rear brake make sure the rear micro switch is not sticking.

If you had a tip over, you also need to make sure the flat spring that touches the switch is not bent.

Cc hint

Pull connector at cc head unit - ck & lube pins & move wires at plug - a poor connection will stop ability to "set"

I did not watch the video, but I see it's covers throttle free-play.
For awhile my 2003 K1200RS CC would not set. Turned out the the throttle free-play needed to be adjusted.

Same here, '02 K1200RS and had the same problem. Did the adjustment and problem went away. I would try the adjustment first, before attempting any more $$$ fixes.

I'll add my vote to the above.
I'd adjusted the throttle play and lubed everything in sight. Thought I was good to go until I found I had no CC. Throttle was too tight.
