Service Message at 7K

So, the bike had the 6,000 scheduled maintenance last fall at the dealer. About 500 miles later I began getting the miles to service message. At 7,000 miles the "service" message appeared. Why, since the next service should be at 12K miles. Unless I missed something there's no other reason for that message. Can it be cleared and reset short of going to the dealer?

It can be reset with a tool called GS911. It is costly and has other maintenance related functions. Your dealer probably did not properly reset the service interval. It can be set for mileage or time and perhaps they reset only the mileage. I'd ask the dealer to make it right.

BMW have a 1 year or 6k mileage requirement for service. Whichever happens first.

If your dealer is nearby, get them to fix it. They should have reset it when they performed your service. As stated before, a friend with a gs-911 is also an option (or invest in one yourself if you intend to do any of your own maintenance.)

The indicater might be signaling for a brake bleed service. The interval is one year after manufacture and every other year there after. This is not mileage related, it is time related regardless of mileage.

Someone forgot a 1 in front of the 2000 [emoji23]
When they reset the reminder

I set ours to a one year interval with the GS911 since you can't just turn it off. You can set it for mileage or date, so the date works for us. The dealer reset used to be 6K, not sure if they will/can set it to a annual interval.
It is not indicative of any particular service, just a need some love reminder. Have many folks stop by for me to reset theirs. Sometimes the dealer tech may forget a step.
