Using the 2004 RT speakers

I was thinking of trying to use the speakers in my 1150RT with my Ipod. From what I gather I will need an amp of some sort.

The way I figure it, there are threads on the radio removal, is I should be able to remove the radio, install a small amp and setup a mini RCA connector.

Anyone done this?
Thanks,
Bob

It sure it has been, and can be done. You will be much happier with a set of ear buds, like etymotic Er-6's. The on bike speakers will be worthless at much more than 40 mph, maybe 50mps if you are helmetless :bolt

I believe you posted this same thread on the BMWST forum. As mentioned above, you won't hear much above 40-50 mph. You're better off removing the unnecessary weight high above the center of gravity. Then use good ear buds or molded ear speakers and really enjoy your tunes as you go down the road.

Thanks for your reply. For the record it wasn't me on the BMWST forum. I don't like to cross post!

Thanks,
Bob

Sorry, Bob. There was an identical post on the Sport Touring forum. Same bike and nearly the same wording. Often the sig is different between forums, so I couldn't be sure. My mistake. Still, I'd lose the speakers.
