Seat protectant suggestions

Hi all,

I have a new to me 2012 R 1200RT with 50k miles. I'm believe that the seat is the original one. I don't know what it is made out of, maybe vinyl? Photo attached.

I would like to put some kind of a conditioner or protectant on there to help it last longer and maybe look better, but I don't want it to be slippery. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you.

I've occasionally used a quality leather conditioner - such as Lexol in the thick liquid form, NOT the spray (that stuff sucks) - or the Harley jacket conditioner. Buff it off and let it dry completely before riding...

Just to clarify, are you using leather conditioners on a vinyl seat or a leather one. If vinyl, then that is pretty cool. I just so happen to have a 1 gallon jug of Lexol. I've only ever used it for my leather sofa though. That would be great to use it on the bike. Thank you.

Can’t add much other than whatever treatment you use, watch for any “shine” meaning the seat becoming slippery. Armor-All is great on plastic/vinyl but usually leave the rider sliding forward into the tank.
I do like Lexol for leather.

Hi Satch, yes I have used it on my vinyl seats. After it's fully buffed and dried, it actually seemed to increase the friction against my blue jeans.

I never put anything on my vinyl seats and they seem to be lasting just fine. Just wearing out some stitching on one.

So, I cleaned the seats top and bottom with some 409. A good bit of filth came off.
Then I applied Lexol liquid and buffed out with a microfiber cloth. It looks subtly better. It's not as faded looking. It is not slick at all, maybe a bit tacky if anything. I'm doubt that it has any UV protective qualities, but I think it worked out okay.
