2009 R1200rt audio and Cell holder.

Hello,

I just picked up 2009 R1220RT. I love this bike! The two things I need to fix and or upgrade is a cell phone holder suggestions and the bike doesn't have audio. So was looking for suggestions on audio set up, I've heard that xm is a good way to go and speakers. Not looking to spend a ton of dough, but i want it to work.

For what it’s worth, when I bought my bike I looked at installing the factory radio because I was adamant about keeping things original. However several people here suggested that I buy a SENA or similar Bluetooth headset instead. I resisted the idea completely.

However after looking in to it further I determined that the factory stereo wasn’t worth the ridiculous cost involved $1,000+ and it didn’t have any of the useful features of the SENA unit. In the end I bought myself a new Shoei Neotec helmet and a SENA 20s and I couldn’t be happier. The system works great.

The SENA has FM radio, but it can play music from your phone and stream news, music...you name it through various apps. I have SiriusXM so I listen to that and I didn’t even need to install an XM receiver. It plays through the app on my phone. Besides all of that I enjoy being able to make/receive phone calls and the intercom function when riding with friends who have SENA for their bikes.

Ram mount- lots of options for cell phone holder I have the spring loaded cellphone holder and the gimbal cup holder on a dual ball mount screwed to the switch on my handlebar. both easily removable too leaving the dual balls

Garmin makes some GPS’s with built in XM radio, can’t remember the model number. Installed one on wife’s 650gt scooter using the power from steering head pigtail, it worked great
If you look below your handlebars, there should be a wire bundle taped off, this is the switched power you’ll need
She kept her phone in jacket pocket for safety and with phone and music info displayed on gps
