TPMS Tire Air Pressure Problem

I have a 2015 R1200 RT with 5500 miles on it. My tire pressure monitoring system has been working just find. About a week ago it locked up a reading of 35 on the front tire and 39 on the rear tire. No matter what I do that read out does not change. Add air, reduce pressure, cold or hot tire it stays the same. Anyone seen this problem?

I wonder what the failure mode is for the TPMS sensor. What happens when the battery dies? Does it just retain the last reading, or does just go blank? I'm not necessarily asking you but wondering out loud. I found this thread which suggests battery issues and how long they might last:

You'll just see a dash when the computer can not see the sensor.
