Helite Vest Traveling on Airplane

Has anyone taken their "HELITE" airbag vest on an airplane?
The manufacturer says it can be packed. I wonder if anyone has flown with one and what experience they had? Did you put it in checked luggage or carry on?

I wonder if they want the Co2 cartridges separate in an approved carrier?

Yes, they come under the same rules that allows avalanche safety vests.
Have you actually flown with one? Did you check it or do a carry on? I fear, TSA will question it and not allow it with the CO2 canisters no matter what the “vendor” tells me in their manual.

Yes, I took my Klim vest and a spare cartridge to Chile last November. I flew on three different airlines and went through six different airports in three countries (US included) on seven flight for the round trip. No issues at all. I had the vest and spare in my checked bag and had the control module in my carry on.

Excellent. It’s great to hear from someone like u that actually went thru this. I’m headed to Europe and I think I’ll pack my 2 vests for me and my wife.

This always struck me as weird - the life vest under your plane seat inflates via a CO2 cartridge. So, there's a 100 or more of these cartridges already on the plane and they make a fuss out of one more?

Before 9/11 I flew from Vancouver, BC to SFO with those portable propane tanks....which IMHO are far more dangerous compared to CO2 cartridges.

This thread was resurrected yesterday and veered into a discussion of air travel with the vest at post #33.
